La Crete Fort - 2 Bedrooms

A Stunning location nestling between Giffard bay and Bonne Nuit Bay. Giffard bay to the east is a secluded rocky and pebble covered bay, popular with mainly local bathers and occasional surfers. Towards the west is the picturesque bay of Bonne Nuit and in turn the delightful port. The steep rugged cliffs of the dramatic north coast along with sea views from the gun platform make this a truly unique environment. Views to the Paternoster reef, Sark and the distant French coastline. The area was first militarised in the 16th century with the fort being built in the 1830's. The Germans extended the building during the occupation as part of the extensive fortifications. More recently it was the weekend retreat for the islands Lieutenant-Governors. The 18-pounder 19th century guns and the German anti-tank and heavy machine guns have long gone but the fort still maintains it authenticity and historical context. This fort is not as well appointed as some similar properties but what it lacks in furnishings and fittings is well compensated by the stunning location. Access to this isolated location is via a public narrow winding unsealed lane. The north coast cliffpath is just a few yards away.

Steps lead from the small public parking area down to the ground floor entrance level.
Lounge-kitchen-diner with double sofa bed. 1 Double/twin bedroom.
1 Single bunk bedroom leading from main bedroom.

Note: the shower room is accessible only through the bedrooms.

Narrow steeps stone steps to a 'fair-weather' additional area with a vaulted ceiling.  There is adequate accommodation without this room so it should be considered a bonus if the weather is appropriate.

Due to the layout of the property, with the various levels involved, the property is not suitable for toddlers or young children, however, a cot can be provided (at nominal charge) for young infants.

Dogs accepted by prior arrangement £10 per dog per night up to a maximum of £50 per dog per stay.

Not suitable for mobility impaired. Smoking not permitted inside property.
