Hamptonne is located in the heart of Jersey's countryside and features a restored traditional farm with a collection of thatched granite houses, stables, meadows and orchard. The original outbuildings date to the mid 16th Century. To add to the ambience hens and other livestock are kept in the nearby meadow and around the site during the main season.
This extraordinary location took centre stage as the village of 'Mellstock' in the 2005 Channel 4 production of Thomas Hardy's 'Under the Greenwood Tree'. The site was transformed with the minor addition of a dummy church and market cross. Â
The historic aspect of the location is often brought to life with knowlegable actors on hand in traditional dress who are delighted to discuss life in their times.
This visitor attraction is open to the public during set opening hours and in addition for special events throughout the year. Weddings and receptions as well as corporate events may take place during your stay. Details are available on request.
A special walk around this historic parish has been created to help maximise the enjoyment of the location. This is a truly unique holiday experience.
