Jersey, with it's rich tapestry of British and continental influences is one of the most enchanting of British isle destinations. It is divided into 12 parish areas with occasional villages providing a focal point for parish life. The island is just 9 miles by 5. You can still sometimes hear Jerriais (the original language of Jersey) spoken in the parish communities.
The country parishes offer a pace of life that is suited to the breathtaking scenery. It's beautiful bays, cliff walks and open countryside have contributed to Jersey's award winning 'Green Lane' - a scheme that provides a network of country lanes where traffic speed is reduced to 15 miles per hour - an ideal environment for walkers and cyclists. Many beaches have won international acclaim for their cleanliness both in and out of the water. St Helier, the capital, is a bustling coastal town with an abundance of entertainment and award winning eateries to suit all budgets. An excellent pedestrian shopping area features familiar chain stores as well as local independent shops.
The diverse heritage that Jersey is proud of is in evident troughout the island. Excellent museums allow you to learn more of Jersey's history from Neolithic times to modern day. Great attractions include Gerald Durrell's ( Author of "My family and other animals") world famous Wildlife Conservation Trust, along with the islands unique flora and fauna for those interested in nature. You will also be tempted by the abundance of sport and water sport facilities - surfing, water skiing, sailboarding, jet ski, scuba diving, etc.
With your own transport you can explore the island at your own pace, even those areas not accessible by Jersey's public transport. We can arrange very competitively priced car hire or for the more adventurous, cycle hire. Please see the relevant pages on our website for details.
